Vanuatu Aid and Relief Distribution
March 30, 2015
A factory in Auckland, New Zealand was tasked to produce a few thousand 10 litre water containers that were loaded aboard the M/Y Umbra prior to her departure from New Zealand Monday evening (23 March).
Umbra made fresh water while underway, filling the containers and upon arrival in Aneityum, Vanuatu Thursday morning they were immediately tasked by the NDMO (National Disaster Management Office) to deliver water to the remote villages via helicopter.
While aid shipments such as this are still arriving, the Vanuatu NDMO is running critically low on funding for continued helicopter operations for distribution to outlying islands.
